Wet Weather is Laundromat Weather

When the washing has been on the line for three days and it’s still damp, bring it to us. Load it straight into one of our tumble dryers and go home with it dry and folded the same hour.

You don’t need to wash here to use the dryers — and you never have to step out into the rain to get to us.

Dry-Only Is Absolutely Fine

Plenty of people come to us with a load that’s already been washed at home. That’s exactly what our dryers are there for. Tip the basket in, choose your time, tap your card and you’re away.

  • Large 14KG — $1 per 5 min + 20c start fee. Around $6.20 for a typical 30-minute load of clothing.
  • X-Large 22KG — $1 per 4 min + 20c start fee. Good for blankets and a couple of baskets at once.
  • XXL 34KG — $1 per 3 min + 20c start fee. Takes a full duvet with room to tumble; allow about 50 minutes.

You only pay for the time you choose, so a half-dry line load might only need a short top-up. Full breakdown on our pricing page.

One tip that saves money in winter: pick the dryer drum your load fills only halfway up the door opening. Wet washing needs room to tumble — overloading takes longer and costs more. (Washing machines are the opposite — fill those to the top of the door opening.)

Park Undercover — You Stay Dry

We’re on Level 2 of the Coast Plaza undercover carpark, so the walk from your car to the machines is completely under cover. No dashing across a wet carpark with an armful of washing.

Set your GPS to 6 Main Street, Whangaparaoa and it will bring you to the Level 2 entrance. We’re at the bottom of the travelators. Parking is free for 3 hours.

Driving something taller, like a motorhome or a van with a roof rack? Use 5 Link Crescent (next to the 10-pin bowling) or the Level 1 carpark, which has more height — we’re directly above, up the ramp or stairs.

Wash, Dry and Do Your Shopping in One Trip

A full wash and dry takes about 60 minutes. Rather than sit and watch it rain, you’re already inside a shopping centre — do the groceries, grab a coffee, get the errands done while the machines run.

Download the SpeedQueen app and it will tell you when your cycle is nearly finished, so you can time your shopping and come back to a finished load. You can also check machine availability before you leave home — handy on a rainy Saturday when everyone has the same idea.

There’s free WiFi in-store too, if you’d rather wait it out with us.

Wet Weather Loads We See a Lot Of

  • The backlog — a week of washing that never made it to the line. Our 27KG washer clears it in one go.
  • Duvets and blankets — too big for a home dryer, straightforward in a 34KG.
  • Sports gear and school uniforms — needed dry by tomorrow morning, not next week.
  • Wet dog beds and pet blankets — our Purple Paws machines are set aside for pet bedding only.

Bring your own detergent if you’re washing, or buy a soap bag for $2 from the vending machine in-store. Everything is cashless — card, paywave or the app, no coins needed.

We’re open 7am–10pm every day. Machines close at 9:20pm, so to wash and dry, start washing by 8:40pm.
